Elements 2024 - Sort by Newest doesn’t work correctly in Organiser

When I choose to sort by Newest, I don't see my images in the correct sequence

Rather bizarrely, if I choose to sort by Oldest it appears to be in the correct sequence.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

 

Using Sort by Name also shows the correct sequence (like by Oldest)  - all the images have come from the same sdxc card from the same camera (ie; the file name are in an unbroken sequential sequence).

 

I also checked the date/time stamp of the images and they are accurate.

I see images from the morning of 24-Jan-24 being shown before the evening of 24-Jan-24 when using sort by Newest.

Hopefully it's a bug that can be corrected soon.....

Nothing new, that's in your preferences.

You can choose strictly "new"

or

first, newest day (recent dates)

and oldest in each day (usual chronological order)

The default choice is the preferred one by most users.
