Elements 2024 Sync and Organiser problems

@meg576 if you want to delete the Cloud Photos from the Elements Web try the following:

Click on the Elements Web button in the Organizer.  That will take you to your Adobe Account web page in your browser that should look something like my combined screenshot below.  Then perform the following actions shown in the screenshots.

1. Click on the Cloud icon at the top right of the page.  A dropdown will show the amount of available storage. 
2. Click on the Manage link.  This will take you to a new web page (different than the one shown in your screenshot).
3. Select the Files tab.  This should display a folder named Elements Photos.  (If you double-click on that folder, it should display all of your Elements photos that have been uploaded to the Cloud, including those uploaded to the Mobile App, I believe).
4. Click on the 3-dots icon at the top right of the folder panel.  This will open a context menu.
5. Click Delete.  The Elements Photos folder and all photos within it will be deleted.  (The folder will be moved to the Deleted tab on the Manage files page.  It will remain available for 30 days.)
   

@dennisw46765709, I am also disgusted that Elements has chosen to turn Auto sync on by default without a fair warning to users as to what will happen.  In my case, I happen to have a 1 TB Creative Cloud account.  So Elements copied tens of thousands of files to the Cloud before I became aware of it!

Are you saying that you have tried to turn the Auto sync off in the Preferences>Auto sync dialog (as suggested by @meg576 ) but the preferences remain turned on?  If so, I can provide you with a geeky solution that should work.

The Auto sync process should not have changed the location of your original photos on your hard drive.  It merely uploads copies to the Elements Cloud and, depending on the settings, provides an additional folder for copies of files downloaded from the Cloud.

How are you importing the files to your catalog?  If you are using the Adobe Photo Downloader (Import>From Camera or Card Reader), the files should be placed wherever you want them.  If you are seeing duplicates imported, that is an entirely separate problem.  Please explain in more detail how and where you are seeing the 3 sets.

Once you have confirmed that you are able to turn Auto sync off, I will give you some suggestions as to how to remove the synced files from the Cloud. 

Go to:

Elements Organizer > Preferences > Auto Sync

Make sure everything is unchecked - see image below.

Then try selecting and deleting directly in the cloud using the following link in your Safari web browser.
