Elements 2026 keeps printing to my old HP office printer instead of my Canon PRO-300.

Elements 2026 keeps printing to my HP office printer instead of my Canon PRO-300. I'm dead in the water, can't print photos. I've disabled Windows Management, reinstalled the Canon software twice, reset Preferences in Elements, nothing helps.

    Looks like I may have fixed it. The Canon was connected via WiFi as always, but to the WSD port. Once I moved it to an actual TCP/IP port, everything seems to have gotten sorted. Maybe the previous version of Elements (2019) I was using didn’t care if WSD was the connection, but 2026 doesn’t allow it. Using a USB cable instead of LAN might have fixed it as well, but now I don’t need to try that.

    Have you tried updating the printer firmware (not the driver)?

    Moving the Canon interface from the WSD port to a TCP/IP port seems to have solved the problem. Going to a hardwired USB connection might have fixed it as well, but I didn’t need to try that.

    If you uninstall the HP office printer, will it print to the PRO-300?

    No, if I uninstall the HP LaserJet, Elements will not let me print at all; error box says “because the default printer could not be opened”. And yet in Windows I have the PRO-300 set as the default printer.

    ​@WhitsDad you’d be better off posting on the Photoshop Elements forum, just out of curiosity, is the Canon PRO-300 set as the default printer

    It is set as the default printer, and that setting never changes on its own. I can print to PDF, using CutePDF Writer for example, but am never able to print to the PRO-300.
