Question

Elements 2026 suddenly not recognising my printer. Looks like an age old problem. "Saved printer information nort compatible with this version of elements" A week ago it was working fine. Also printer works with all other programs.

This problem seems to go back a long way. Out of the blue my printer doesn’t work with Elements 2026.Various forums show this problem goes back through lots of versions of Elements. Why is it so hard to solve? I need the printer for my work with Elements, I have tried all the suggestions, resetting preferences etc etc..It’s Elements that is the problem as all other programs work fine with my printer, but. finding a solution is another thing altogether. Seriously considering finally abandoning Elements after many years of using it for our archive work. I’ve nearly had enough.

I’m having the same problem. Last week I updated drivers and it was working fine. Today it will not recognize my printer. I’ve done all the tweaks they’ve suggested. My work is at a stand still until this gets fixed.

@Mvox you haven’t told us whether you reinstalled the printer driver. Did that not work?

If you hit F1 in the Editor, it will take you to a Help webpage. In the lower right corner, you will see a small icon with 3 dots. Click it, and a chat window will open.

Frankly, I don’t know what is happening to Adobe support lately. I just tried to ask ask about your printer situation and the best response was to reinstall the latest printer driver (which is what I have advised previously in this discussion). If this doesn’t work and you need to speak to a live person, try typing AGENT in the chat box.

You mean the driver for the printer that is no longer on my computer and that i don’t have access to? Or the driver for the printer that works just fine for everything else but photoshop.

I also looked up the release date of your printer: 11 years ago. That alone should cause some concern-- even if you bought last year brand new- that really doesn’t matter.

Guidance about your printer basically says to uninstall everything related to your printer, and reinstall it using the latest printer driver.

The latest printer driver for that printer is 11 years old- which certainly doesn’t help things.

What could change to cause this issue? A windows update. SOMETHING TO TRY: use a restore point to just before this issue arose.

Same problem. Photoshop elements 2026 insists that a non existant printer is the default and won’t print. Where is there any coustomer support??????!!!!!!

We need more information to help you with printing in Elements. What happens when you try to print? Are you getting any error messages. Have you rebooted after resetting the preferences? Is your printer using a wi-fi connection?

Is the printer not working in both the Editor and the Organizer?

Try installing the latest print driver from the printer’s manufacturer.

Hi Greg,

(Win 11, Dell workstation, Elements 2026. Epson ET-14000 printer, hardwired direct, no wi-fi. Have rebooted several times and reset preferences. Not reloaded drivers.)

We run a non-profit archive and have regularly printed out full colour A3 posters, etc, for years not just simple text files, so it’s a real pain in the neck to now use a workaround.

Non specific error messages, “saved printer information not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements”...or...”saved printer is no longer available”. Both of which are not true as I’ve been using this printer with this version of Elements for months, but suddenly this has happened.

I can eventually get through to setting printer preferences, then try to print and “the default printer cannot be opened” message appears.

The printer works fine and is recognised by all other programs except Elements..

Looking through various help forums I never found any solutions, but this exact problem seems to go back years through several versions of Elements and Windows which makes me think there’s maybe either a simple solution or none.

Adobe are no help at all as they don’t seem to be bothered with desktops any more.

Just print the images outside of elements--- save it to a location you can find, badda boom, done.

Well thank you Glenn….I had not thought of that, seems obvious now..

What program could I use to replace the one inside Elements to do that?

just right mouse click on the image then select print. If on windows 11:

You may have to scroll all the way to the bottom of all the choices after you right mouse click on the image and choose PRINT from the second pop up menu.

Here is my printer interface doing what I just explained… every printer is different so your interface will look simliar, but different unless you have the epson ET 2803, which is the model of printer I have.
