Elements 6 - Sierra 10.12 - Canon Raw files

Hello,

I have Elements 6 running fine on MacOS Sierra 10.12, but it won't recognize the CR2 raw files from my Canon XSi which is an old camera, it should know that file.

I downloaded the DMG update installer from adobe for Camera Raw 11 I think it was, it was listed to work with Sierra 10.12.

I clicked on the PKG file, and it installed sucessfully, but Element 6 is not able to open the raw files.

What step did I missed, or is there a trick to get this to work.

On the adobe site I found a instructions to go under the library/support files/adobe/cc/something something, to copy the updated file and pasted on the Element file type folder which doesn't exist, so I have no where to paste it.

Any help will be greatly apreciated.

Pse 6 shipped with camera raw 4.3 on the mac side i believe and your

Canon XSi requires at least camera raw 4.4

Pse 6 can, however, use up to camera raw 5.6 which you get from here:

(you want the Camera_Raw_5_6.dmg)

You can click on your desktop click on Go then Connect to Server and paste in

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/cameraraw/mac/5.x

then check Connect as Guest

To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6:
NOTE: You must follow all of the new instructions in order to successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements.

1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)

Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.

NOTE: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, follow these steps:

1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in Step 5 above.
2. Start Adobe Bridge.
3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.

Important: Purging the Central Cache deletes cached thumbnail information for all folders. It also deletes labels, ratings, and rotation settings for read-only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support.
