Elements 9 for Mac (issues with installing)

I have years ago purchased a photoshop elements 9 and when changing computers I've never had issues with downloading it again and getting my license to work. The program hasn't however been updated in a long time anymore and started having problems lately. I recently had to reinstall my MacBook and now downloading the elements 9 doesn't work anymore (when I've downloaded the file and click install my computer tells me that it seems like the software is outdated and that something is wrong so it can't be installed. What should I do to get some sort of photoshop working on my computer again? I really wouldn't like to pay for a new one since the old one is something I paid for and it was still working well enough for me.

Thanks for help!

Was the original installation from a disc?

What is the exact wording of the error message?

What operating system?

Thank you for the answer! The original installation was from a disk but after that I've installed it a couple of times by downloading it from adobe's website. The message that pops up says "“Install” can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image." and then options are "eject the disk image" or "cancel", nothing happens when I click the first one. I clicked on the question mark on that window and then this Mac help window comes up:

"The app’s authorization has been revoked

There may be a problem with this app. Although the app was signed by an identified developer, the certificate for the app has been revoked, and it cannot be opened.

Check with the Mac App Store or the software developer to see whether there is an updated version of this app."

My computer is MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3
