Elements hangs on Mojave if I open from Finder??

Hey folks, I just upgraded to MacOS Mojave, and then subsequently to Elements 2019.  Deleted plist and other preference files.  Elements seems to run completely fine on its own, if I open files from within Elements.  But - if I double-click a PSD file from within Finder, it does open the file eventually.  But suuuuuuper slow.  Hangs with spinning cursor constantly, I can do one thing and then it hangs for 5-10 seconds, basically unusable.  Functionality is there if I wait, just like a normal psd file - but it hangs in between everything I do.

Anyone with any idea?
