elements organizer 16.0.0.0 stopped working

Hi, i use adobe elements organiser 16.0.0.0 and it stopped working since a while. It doesn't put new photo's in my catalogue. I can't put my tags to any picture. And if i want to export a file system says 'no', but it is working.

I also can't delete any pictures. The catalogue consists of 107.000 pictures. Catalogue is 559,8 MB big. Is it to full? I did try to repair the whole catalogue, to try to resolve what's false in the database. It says their are no mistakes found.

I work with windows 10. What can I do to solve this problem? Or do I need to make another, new catalogue? I tried that too, and the tagging, exporting and adding new pictures in that is working right. So I think something is wrong with my current catalogue. I don't have any 'older' back-up from that, than the one that is not working right now.

So, are you saying that you have no room on your D drive, and you are unable to make a full backup of your current catalog (on an external drive)?  Please provide more details so that we can make some suggestions which will keep your catalog intact with all of your metadata saved.

1.  Where is your catalog folder stored?  Is it on your C drive?  The default location and name is

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog

If not in the default location, is it possibly on your D drive?  If you are not sure of the location of the folder, search your computer for a file named catalog.pse16db.  It will be in the catalog folder.  (I am assuming that you have Elements 2018 which is Elements version 16.0.)

2.  What is the folder structure of your photo files on your D drive?  Do you have all the photos in folders under a parent folder such as D:\My Photos?

3.  How large is your D Drive?  How much space remains empty?  (Look at the drive's Properties.)

4.  Do you have more than one external/portable drive?  How large is/are the drive(s) you have available?

5.  What metadata are you trying to retain:  Keyword Tags, People/Places/Event tags, face recognition?

Hi

My catalogue is stored as default and as mentioned by jou in C.

I have collected all my images on D:\images, with lots of subfolders.

In D just 17,2 GB is yet available.

And I have a brand new external disk available of 5 TB

So what I would like to do is:

- or: place ALL current images on a new external disk, and keep the catalogue in C, as default

- or: place NEW images on the external disk, and keep CURRENT images in D, as they are now

Option 1:

- how do I keep all metadata per picture saved in combination with the new disk?

Option 2:

- is it possible to connect the current catalogue, to a. the D:\images and b. let's say K:\images combined with ONE catalogue on C.

I still have the same problem. And would solve it by replacing all original photo's from disc D (disk is full) to a new portable disc. How can I get the catalogue and original files connected in the right manner? So all metadata that I added in the organizer is right connected to every single picture again?

Have you moved the catalogue to a custom location?  You have described a very unusual situation.  What happens when you try to import a new photo from Files and Folders?  Do you get any error message?

The size of your catalogue should not be a problem unless there is no room on the hard drive where the catalogue folder is stored.

Without knowing more information, my first suggestion is to copy the Catalogue folder to a different drive (and rename the folder).  This may take quite a while.  Once you have the folder copied, find and double-click on the catalog.pse16db file which you should find within the folder.  (To determine the location of the problem catalogue folder, open it and then click on Help>System Info . . . After several seconds, a dialog will appear with the location of the catalogue folder in the second paragrah.)

Then see if you have the same problems with the copied catalogue.
