Elements Organizer fails bulk import when date is 1 JAN 1970 on the imported file

I trying to do a bulk import to Organizer 2022. After importing several 1000 photos it would always fail at the same spot but provide no message except to abort the input. Even though the Catalog was showing a large file size no photos were shown.

After some investigation I found that any file with a date of 1 JAN 1970 would completely confuse the program. Removing those files solved the problem.
