error 146 trying to update photoshop elements 2021

Hello all -

I've upgraded to a macbook M1 and all is well except when I try to update PS Elements 2021 to 2021.3. The install gets to 88% & then I receive an error 146 message. My creative cloud files are up-to-date as I also use LR & PS. (I haven't completely abandoned Elements for PS so have not upgraded to most recent version.) Online instructions on how to fix seem to apply to Windows. I've tried to find the file in the error message below - Systems/Volumes/Data with no luck. I'm at a loss related to the Adobe files. Sorry and thank you!

Well.  I just learned from a chat with an adobe customer service agent that 2021 is NOT compatible with Sonoma.  Their solution is for me to give them more money for 2024.  The program I purchased recently, only 2 years ago, can no longer be used and it would appear they have no intention of making it compatible.  That being said, I will no loner be an Adobe customer if a program that is only 3 years old is no longer supported.  That's just too much of a money grab for my tastes as a consumer an I will NEVER buy a program as a subscription model.  Not happening.  I'd rather do without or find other solutions.

@ktdidphoto, the question you should be asking is why Apple updates its Operating System each year and fails to ensure that the new OS is compatible with software programs that are only a year old.  The core functon of an OS is to run a software program.  I can run Elements 4, a program that is about 18 years old, on my Windows 11 machine.

And I seriously doubt whether most photographers use Macs (or at least those who use Elements).

Updating this - I have read/write permissions on everything I can see. I added read/write for 'everyone' for the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Sync folder. No luck. Next I went to my account on the Adobe website and downloaded the application. Same issue when run the install - get to 88% then the error 146 message. Who do I call to get past this? Thank you.

Next update - Well this is interesting. After downloading the app from All Apps on my account on the website, now Elements doesn't show as one of my available applications. It has disappeared. My brain is really starting to hurt....

Final post. Chatted with a support person and found out PS Elements 2021 (and 2022) are not compatible with Mac Ventura 13.0. This is very disappointing. Ventura is not new, PSE 2021 is not old. Surely Adobe knows most photographers use Macs, why wouldn't they keep versions of purchased products up to date?
