    Hi dgrparker,

This error generally arises when you disk is full, please clear the space on your disk by deleting the unnecessary stuff. Also, clear the preferences of PSE and relaunch PSE again.

    Windows

Edit>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences on next launch.

    Mac

Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences on next launch.

Please let me know if this doesn't help.

    Thanks,

    Swapnil

What icon are you using and at what stage in the use of Elements (or organizer) does this message appear?

Scratch disks are used to add more memory than your RAM by using your disks.

What kind of drives are you using (SSD ?) and what are their capacity?

The management of scratch disks is made from the Edit >> Preferences menu of the editor.
