Question

Error message opening a Topaz file

I am need of help from experienced photo editors using Topaz. I do basic editing with Photoshop Elements and now Topaz. I have been first opening my photo in stand alone Topaz Denoise and choosing my best option then Topaz has been saving the new file to the same folder as the original as a JPG. Then I open that file in Photoshop Elements and finish editing. I am now getting the following error message when I try to open the file that Topaz has saved. For some reason Topaz Denoise is not attaching the proper file name. I have changed nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might also try asking Topaz support or the Topaz forum.

Hmmm  . . .  some programs use unorthodox file formats to save the file, and Elements cannot open it.  This happens most frequently with files saved on a phone.  In such a case, it is sometime possible to open the file in a more forgiving program like Windows Photos app and simply save the file again.  The saving process usually fixes the problem.  So, I would suggest giving that a try.

Otherwise, I would recommend using Topaz Denoise as a plug-in to the Elements Editor, rather than as a standalone program.  It will avoid even the slight degradation in quality that might occur if saving a jpeg multiple times.
