Question

External Editors for Apple Photos

I have been a Apple Photos user for a couple of years and recently purchased Photoshop Elements 15 to become my photo editor. (I would like to continue to use Photos as my organizer at this time because I like the sharing capability across all my devices). I also acquired the $0.99 program "External Editors for photos" from the App Store which allows for  PSE 15 to be my editor. That program works, starting PSE 15 and moving the photo to be edited from Photos to PSE 15 for editing. The problem I'm having is getting the edited photo back into Apple Photos. The developer of "External Editors for Photos" has a you tube video showing the process but it moves so fast I'm unable to follow. It appears that after editing you save (Save as) in PSE 15 then switch back into Apple photos and the edited photo should be there, which I have not been able to figure out. My save settings in PSE 15 may be the problem, as I have no idea where they are going, but its not back in to the Photos Library.

Is there anyone out there that is using "External Editors for Photos" that would be willing to provide some assistance or point me to a better resource than the developers you tube video.

Thanks for any assistance.

I don’t use the extension myself but you should not use “Save As” because that will create a new document which Photos won’t recognize. Use Save and Close from the PSE File menu or Cmd+S & Cmd+W

In Photos click “Save Changes” and then click Done. The following video tutorial may be more helpful.
