Extreme lag in PSE 15

Greetings all,

Well, I'm using the 30-day trial of PSE 15, and I'm suffering a lot of lag. Additionally, the menus don't even activate in Organizer.

Once I hit the menus in Editor, man, the lag is incredible, making it almost impossible to use the program.

This also happens when trying to make adjustments.

I've lowered the history from 50 to 20, upped the cache from 6 to 7 (not much, but I'm not sure how much I can up it) — still no difference.

As noted above, I can't get into the menu system within Organizer to turn off automatic face recognition.

I'm not running anything in the background except antivirus protection.

I've run Photoshop and Lightroom on this system in the past with no problems at all.

Win 10 Home Ed.

3.3 mhz CPU

16 gig ram

Nvidia GTX 650 graphic card (not the best, but, sheesh, not the worst!)

Any ideas?

Thanks much,

Starkman

    UPDATE:

Apparently, running windows with fully maximzed windows and having the Taskbar to auto hide cause these issues.

Ironically, it was only when I ran Windows in fully maximized windows did that lag issue go away. (Hey, I'll take it!)

And when I disabled the Taskbar from auto hiding then the menus in Organizer started working.

Anyway, so far so good. I'll keep an eye on it and get back here if things aren't as they seem!

    Keith,

I think it may be useful to mention your other post there:

Suffering Lag | Photoshop Elements & More

You had different issues (lag and organizer opening) which were solved differently from the known workarounds.

First, as to the lag, running Windows FULLY maximized (I had it unmaximized all along) took care of the lag! I mean, okay, I'll take that! Who cares if it's the opposite to fix the problem for others!

As to the menus not working in Organizer, unticking the auto hide task bar fixed the issue.

    Have fun with Elements now!

    Michael,

I'm afraid I'm not following you. The issue in the other post I made, which you referenced, is the same issue as I posted here; I simply posted the issue in two different forums (here and at Photoshop Elements and More). The issue and fix are the same in both posts: use fully maximized windows (fixed the lag) and disable the automatic taskbar hiding feature (which fixed the menus not working in Organizer).

    Thanks much.
