Face recognition

I have a new HP Envy laptop with Windows 11 and PSE 24. When using face recognition I often get the wrong suggestion. The problem is that clicking on the X to change the name nothing happens. I can click 10 times and than it might offer another wrong suggestion or simply stay unchanged. Any idea?

The choice is offered because it does work if you are patient enough.

Don't hold your breath for the performance to be improved.

I'm not sure if Adobe would consider it a bug, but it is certainly not desirable performance. This problem has been around for quite a while. Yes, when you click the X, nothing appears to happen . . . . unless you wait for a considerable amount of time, sometimes minutes. If you wait, it will eventually allow you to enter a different name than suggested.

I am guessing that if you tell the program that it has suggested the wrong person, it goes looking for another person to suggest, and if it can't find someone, it will leave the name blank. This is one of the reasons why I recommend that you use the UnNamed People room to name recognized faces. It is much faster than performing this operation in the main grid.

Thanks fo the reply. It is a bug otherwise why offer that option if you have to use the Unnamed People room?

Thanks anyway and I will wait for a bug fix by Adobe even though you are saying that the problem is well known.

I can't find which x you are referring to. When I look a photo in the media tab grid, I double click the photo that has a face in it, hover over the face until the name and circle appears and then click on the name, I can then change it if it's required.
On the People tab, in the named section, I can right click on a face and click rename.

Looking at the photo on the media grid the program often comes up with a suggested name followed by a tic and an X to approve or change a name. My wife name comes up instead of the name of a granchild. Clicking on the X to change to the correct name generates no reply from the program. Occasionally if I come back to the same picture after a while it will allow me to change the name. Clearly a program bug.
