Can anyone tell me why my files double in size as soon as I open them in PSE 2018

    You are opening jpeg files? Jpeg format is a compressed image format. When an image is opened in the editor, it shows its full size.

    Thank you for your answer. The files I opened were .dng and .nef files

    That's a good start...

    To comment on the sizes, it would be helpful to state the size of the NEF, the DNG and the 'Doc' size as shown on the bottom left of the image in the workspace. And while we are at it, which Nikon camera and if you have 'embedded' the raw file in the DNG .
