files from Elements 12 not showing in file explorer

I was attempting to backup Elements 12 images to an external hard drive when I noticed that only my photographs from 2018 were showing up in the file explorer of my computer.  All my photographs still show in Elements 12.  I always download from my camera into Elements but expect that the files should show under the file explorer
