Fill Selection Breaks Elements

After using Fill Selection, Elements no longer returns control to normal execution - e.g., doesn't let me do another selection followed by fill...I have to do something else first, like copying and pasting (and deleting) the selection I just did the fill for.  This started happening all of a sudden after years of using the application.
