Filters are de-colorizing image

Hello,  So i create a big circle and fill it in with gradient pink to blood red, save it as psd and continue working.

The problem then is when I apply a filter, like crackle, emboss, et al,, the effects are applied in shades of gray.

The filters are removing the colors and replacing them with grays.

Can't seem to figure out why and how to get the filters to apply their effects in color.

I dont recall having this problem before.

In fact, last year when I had applied "stain glass" it was very colorful.

But if apply stain glass today, it will be in shades of gray instead of shades of red.

Any ideas?
