Find by Details (Metadata): date range

PSE 14 on W10.

When I do a "Find by Details (Metadata)" and set a capture date range [after 31-12-2002] and [before 1-1-2004], a series of 2003 pictures is found, but not all pictures that should be found. When I clear the filter criteria and have a look at the not-found pictures, I see that they do have 2003 as year, but day and month are set to "???". Once I set the month to anything but "???" (and leave the day at "???"), these photo's are actually found by the above search criteria. Is this by design or is this a bug? Help would be appreciated!

    Rik,

It's not by design but not exactly a bug either since there is no absolute standard to work with undefined dates in various softwares.

    I could imagine various workarounds:

    - assigning a keyword to files selected from the browsing space in date view (possibly temporary keyword)

    - assigning a date for files without a date (menu Find >> Items without date or time)

    - if the date is a part of the subfolder, that may help = menu Find >> By details >> Folde name [contains] 2014 for instance.
