Fix Letter Spacing issues in Text

The last couple of times I have attempted to type in Photoshop elements 14, the spacing for all of my installed fonts has been weirdly spaced out. Before, the letters were right next to each other and were spaced normally and now they are almost double the length when typed in the same size and fonts. How do I change the spacing back to normal? Again, this is a new problem that has just started and the spacing used to be fine.
