Fonts are missing from Elements 12

Hi,

I am using Elements 12 and for some reason my fonts have disappeared and I keep getting an error message." Could not use the type tool because fonts could not be found on the system".

I recently downloaded some new fonts and everything worked fine for a while, but now no fonts are available. Any one help please?

    There was a forced Windows 10 update a while ago. This has resulted in problems for many users as delineated here on this board.

    This long thread provides insight into the issue, and there are solution(s) starting with post #23.

    Photoshop Elements opens, but menus are blank

    I should have said that I am using a MacBook Pro with OS 10.12.5
