Formatting my 12000+ photos English UK way dd/mm/yyyy

All my photos come out  dated American way. I am trying to organise my photos, taken over 12 years onto a new Mac, all taken on Canon cameras. It is very frustrating I cannot get this done and is really annoying. Can any one help?

    In the organizer, menu Edit >> Preferences >> general.

    Choose your prefered date template.
