Question

Front is all uppercase, won't go to lower case

This just happened out of the blue this morning, was working fine last night.

The problem is that my text is stuck in upper case.

1. The caps lock key is not on
2. I am not using an all upper case text- it happens regardless of font type
3. I have tried to reset my tools and it hasn't worked.

Any ideas?

Oh and I am using PSE6.0

Here is the fix for your stuck Caps Lock:

Mac

Command ('Apple Key') + Shift + Y

Windows :

Ctrl + Shift + Y

This will put the text back to sentence case or lower case (whatever it should be before it was being forced into all caps)

I recently purchased Elements 2024, hoping to fix a different problem I had with 2022, and have now experienced this (text getting stuck in all caps) twice. The first time I was able to reset the tool and it worked. This time I tried restarting, resetting the tool, and Resetting Preferences on Launch and nothing is working. I was hoping maybe I could at least copy text from elsewhere and paste it in as lowercase, but no luck. Help!!

@charlyh63658183 please describe your exact problem in more detail.  What OS and version of Elements are you using?  Has the problem only just started?

Have you tried resetting the preferences file?  Go to the Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.

I am encountering the same problem on an iMac (using the Mac version of Elements 8, up-to-date version). I attempted the command+option+shift on open and replaced the preferences, but this didn't eliminate the problem. I also went to the link that advised inserting the install disk and selecting repair, but this is not an option; so I'm reinstalling Elements. I'll go through the updating process and see if that helps...

Well, you taught me some valuable things. Although I have no use for templates and organizers, I do need to know the guts of the program.

I finally reinstalled the program and got my lower case back.

I think you for the lesson.

Photoshop Elements starts with one program: the welcome screen. In the welcome screen you can choose to go to the organizer or the editor, depending on which icon you click. Hold down the keys and click the Edit button to start the editor.

If you have set PSE to automatically start up in the Organizer already, then click the Welcome Screen button at the top left of the window (the little house) to bring it up so you can choose to start the editor.

The editor and the organizer are two separate programs.

I'm running Vist Home Premium.

Holding down ctrl+alt+shift while I start PSE6 gets me the Properties box. I could hold these keys down for a year and it would still say Properties.

I'm sorry but I don't know all the various vernacular terms for this application. To me Editor means something with Editor written on it. Photo Shop Elements means Photo Shop Elements.

I hate to be a problem but this issue is a major one for my use of the program. I don't want to go back to Corel but I'll have to if I can't render Text. Do you know if this is an issue in PSE7? I need to get this resolved one way or the other.
