Frustrating question

I'm hoping someone can help.

I have PSE7 and I have downloaded the camera raw plug-in 5.6.0.148 however I still cannot open my Canon Rebel T5's .CR2 raw file saying it's the wrong type.

What am I missing?

    Hi

    The Canon Rebel T5 needs adobe camera raw 8.4 or later (see link below)

    Cameras supported by Camera Raw

    Unfortunately the latest camera raw compatible with Photoshop Elements 7 is version 5.6

    Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

    So your choice is to use a later version of Elements or try the free DNG convertor to convert your CR2 files to DNG then open those files . The download link for the convertor is half way down the page in the link below:

    I could have sworn that I had read on hear that the 5.6 would support my camera. Apparently, I was wrong.
