I am trying to use Gaussian blur.  I lasso it and all but when I go to Gaussian blur it says it cannot it as no pixels are selected.  I see Feathering pixels

but no place to do this.  I have done this before quite a bit but not for a long time - PS 12.  How can I get in and use Gaussian blur?  Thank you very much.

    Hi,

Please follow these steps to perform Gaussian blur:

    1. Open your image in PSE

    2. Select lasso tool from the toolbox on your left.

    3. Select the part of your image on which you want to perform the Gaussian Blur.

    4. Go to Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur

    5. A dialog box will open. Select the radius for the blur, and only the selected part of your image will get blurred.

If you're still facing issues, kindly share screenshots. Thanks

Can you give us a print screen or snapshot from the layer panel if possible ?!

I want to thank you both for getting back to me.  I am in PS Elements 15 - been in Elements about every other one since Elements 5.   Elements is sufficient for my needs.  But I have not done this since about El 8 or 10.

In the Expert Mode I drag an image into in from my desktop or folder.  I go to the Lasso at the top and lasso the part of the image I want to use the Gaussian blur.  The Lasso is also indicated at the bottom and I go to New.   I go to Filter at the top, click on Filter, Blur and Gaussian Blur.    That is where I lose the process.

There is an arrow with what looks like a grey space in the attached small rectangle.

Are the pixels not coming in?

I used to do this a lot and now not sure what is going on.

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I just fiddled some more and it appears that my pixels are not transferring from the Layers on the right to the working screen.   ???

    Hi

Do you mean Photoshop Elements 15? If so I will move your post to the Photoshop Elements forum as the settings may be different in your version (e.g screenshots from Photoshop CC will look very different).

    In general terms though:

    1. Ensure you have a layer selected that contains pixels

    2. Ensure that you don't have a feather set that is more than half the width of your selection
