Question

Gigantic tool panel stretched across bottom of screen

I just upgraded from Elements 9 to the latest version.  Maybe it's just because it's not what I'm used to, but it seems so much worse!  My current concern is the tool panel.  In the old elements, you clicked on a tool and the options  -  brush, size, opacity, etc  -  appeared in a thin bar across the top of the screen that in no way interfered with the workspace.  Now, however, whenever I choose a tool, an entire enormous panel with these options opens on the bottom of the screen, and takes up a huge chunk of workspace, leaving me with a very small, nowhere near screen-sized image.  There has to be a way to change this . . . doesn't there?

The interface for tools has been changed in PSE11 (we are now at 5 newer versions).

Yes, many people think that panel is too big, but there are ways to live with it.

First, if it seems so big, that is probably because you have a minimal resolution display.

Ways to work with or without the tool panel:

    - you can hide it from its title bar (small icon on the right)

    - you can switch hiding/showing the panels with the 'tab' key

    - you can work in floating windows (see your preferences)
