got disc down loaded on defunked pc, trying to down load same on laptop over wifi. elements 2020.

If I’m understanding you, you want to install 2020 on your laptop but it doesn’t have an optical drive for the DVD you purchased?  So you’re wanting to download 2020 from your account for the laptop?

You could also easily copy the entire contents of your DVD (keeping all files together in a folder) onto a thumb drive and it onto your laptop’s desktop (for example).  Then open your copied folder and dbl click Setup.exe.  

It should install and run provided that there are no compatibility issues, 2020 isn’t already activated on two computers, etc; suffice to say it’ll work the same as installing 2020 from the DVD.

If by defunked, you mean your PC can’t be used anymore you could cobble your thumb drive together on any friend or relatives PC having an optical drive, the Public Library or Amazon.
