If you allow the app to delete the duplicate photos, what happens to your catalog? Do you have to go back and link all your pictures to Photoshop Elements? I don't want to mess up my catalog, but I have a ton of duplicates, which I did not add. If you let the app delete, did it delete just from the catalog, or from your drive as well?
This utility appears to find exact copies as well as visually similar photos. It allows you to delete the duplicates through Windows File Explorer. This will mean that any deleted files will become missing in your Organizer catalog. That is not a big problem because you can perform a search for All Missing Files from the Find menu. Then select them all (Ctrl+A) and press Delete to remove them all from the catalog.
But you may want to figure out why you have all these duplicates in the first place.
Added: And to answer your specific question, the utility will delete your files from the hard drive. But you can also copy or move them.
