Help Photoshop Elements 2018 is not working

I downloaded Photoshop Elements 2018 from the Windows Store and for a few weeks it was working fine. But now whenever I try to do anything it keeps saying it has failed e.g. if I try to import media from files and folders into organiser it goes through all the motions to import but at the end of the process it says "import failed". If i try to delete an existing photo, it says "error deleting media". I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling from the Microsoft store but the problems continue. Can you advise what I can do to solve this?

I have this problem now. After working fine for months, I've now encounter a multitude of problems that I can't fix.

  1. I go through the normal process of importing my latest photos and the dialog box says it worked but they don't show up in the grid or the folder they are in.
  2. Same with reconnecting files that are in a renamed folder. Everything goes as normal until the last step when I get a dialog box saying that it has failed.
  3. I have a number of folders that are greyed out and can't be removed.

HELP!!

Hi David,

Apologies for the inconvenience you're facing.

Please provide the answers to my following questions. We shall try our best to assist you with this issue:

  1. Please mention the OS version you are using. Please see How to Check Your Windows Version: 5 Steps (with Pictures) for instructions.
  2. Did you install any OS updates on your system after which it started behaving this way?
  3. It would be helpful if you can mention the workflows where it is failing, like you mentioned for Import and Delete.
  4. Is this happening with all the media that you have in your catalog or is it specific to some media? In case it happens with some media, can you please mention the location of these files, whether they lie on your local hard drive or on some external drive?

Thanks

Hi Arshla

1. Windows 10 pro v1709 OS Build 16299.64

2. No

3. workflows for import, delete and change date on a photo. Every time I do it for any photo it says it has failed. In short the software is unusable

4. I only have jpeg files in my catalogue. They are all from an external hard drive. However when I try to import new photos from the local hard drive, it still fails to import.

Thanks

David
