Help Wanted With PSE11 Printing Problem

PSE 11 on Mac Os 10.9.5 has suddenly stopped printing with my Epson 1500 printer.

It is not a printer problem,as all other applications print as before, but with PSE pressing

the 'print' command has absolutely no effect.

For example taking the photo file into the 'Preview' application, enables a print to be made,

but there is no access to the various Epson print tweaks/menus that are available when printing

from PSE. Whilst this method might work for snapshots,I can't envisage doing any serious

printing this way.

The automated Epson printer software update kicked in yesterday, and whether this is a factor

I don't know ?

I have tried resetting preferences through the PSE Preferences box,but this only worked

once, then it was back to nil response from the PSE print command.

Advice/tips/solutions eagerly awaited.

Malcolm.

I spoke to Epson support in the UK,and was given a very straightforward fix. This is obviously something Epson are familiar with.

Open the printer application on your printer (I've got a Mac),DELETE  the problem printer, then ADD the same printer back in.

Switch everything off,and leave for a minute or two, switch everything back on,and hopefully like me everything will be back as should be.

    Hi Malcolm,

Please try out resetting the printer to "default settings". Once the printer settings reset to default, clear the print preferences of PSE11 one more time and then try out.

Please let us know, if this works for you.

    Thanks,

    Rahul....

    Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure how to reset the preference settings on my printer, but I have tried resetting the PSE preferences, with no real success until I changed one thing. Previously I had always let Epson manage colour, and this gave me acceptable results. However as I said in my original post this method meant I couldn't print anything. I have now changed the setting on my print page to let PSE manage colour - and, fingers crossed,it appears to be working.   I hope mentioning it here doesn't jinx it !

This could of course mean that my original problem WAS caused by the Epson printer software update.

If so then it's an Epson problem not PSE.

Perhaps others having the same problem -and there seems to a lot of PSE printing problems cropping up on the fora - could chip in with their take on my 'solution'.

If my success turns out to be short lived I'll be back.

    Malcolm.
