How can I search keywords entered into the File Info / Basic area within Elements Organizer

I've realised that when I'm searching for images by keywords in Elements Organizer 20, the keywords which I entered onto the image using Image Tags are searchable. However, the keywords I entered when in Editor/ File Info/ Basic are not. This means that my searches are incomplete.

Up until now, I had thought that keywords entered by both methods were in the same database. I've keyworded 100s of images directly in File Info so now I'm looking for a way to search them or to transfer them easily into the searchable keyword area.

As an example, I tested this today on one image. I entered "The Yards" through Image Tag and then "Covent Garden" through File Info. When I do a search only "The Yards" is found. When I search for "Covent Garden" it doesn't appear. Both keywords are on the metadata in File Info.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

You can display the metadata from either the organizer or the editor.

But everybody uses only the organizer to

- enter your tags, captions, notes...

- do searches.

The metadata is stored in the photo/video files itself and/or in the catalog. For instance the camera data are stored in the file at import time and most are registered in the catalog. Most of your tagging is registered in the catalog and you have the option to write the important edits also on the file itself: keywords, captions, notes. Also, there is a distinct part of your metadata called IPTC. The purpose is to enter descriptions of your photos in a standard structure for further classification and use (such as copyright, models etc.)

The critical data you enter yourself for your own organization and searches are mainly your tags and captions, the edits to dates. Some of those pieces of information are copied and shared in the IPTC section.

So, you should only use the organizer to add and edit any type of data, and only use the editor to read it.

The organizer displays both the data read from the files and from the catalog. It can do searches based on the catalog contents but as it does not index all data (see the searches criteria) you can't expect it to search for some IPTC data which have no equivalent in the catalog database.
