How do I add Color Range?

I just acquired the Photoshop Elements 15 for Windows.

I am trying to edit a green background, but all advises point to the use of Color Range.

Most mention that it's under Select / Color Range, however, under the Select menu this option is not available.

More research pointed that I had to activate it by searching for 'Action' (.ATN) files. But I find none.

If someone could advice me or point me to the right direction, I would appreciate it.

    When you say "edit" a green background do you mean make a selection of the green background?  If not, what do you mean by edit?  Besides using Color Range to select the green, you can also use the Magic Wand Tool or Quick Selection Tool.  Adjusting the Tolerance will help you select the range of green tones.

    I took some photos with a green background. My intention is to remove the 'green' so I may add a different background.

    I have seen how easy they remove it using the color range. However, like I mention, it's not available.

    I took some photos with a green background. My intention is to remove the 'green' so I may add a different background.

    Try this, Cestorlop:

    1. Open the image with the green background
    2. Duplicate the Background layer. Shut off the visibility of the Background layer by clicking on its eye icon in the layers palette
    3. Activate the Magic wand tool, and set tolerance to 32. You may have to adjust this value, but try 32 for now.
    4. Left click on the green area and hit delete on the keyboard
    5. Open a blank layer between the Background and the Background copy layers, then fill Layer 1 with the new background.

    Note: If the selection with the Magic wand tool in step #3 is not precise, try a lower value.
