How do I change the default background and caption colours added to photos, when using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2026? I can add a caption to a photo but it is difficult to read, displaying grey text on a dark grey background.

​@thelma88506858 your post has been moved to the Photoshop Elements forum, so I have reopened the post for replies.  There are various ways to add captions.  How are you adding yours?  And what is your intended use for the captions.

IMO, the best way to do this for most uses is to simply add your caption as a text layer in the Editor.  You could also extend the canvas with a black background and type over the black background.  If you are using the Organizer to add captions, it is possible to edit the photo to add a caption in a modified position using the Editor’s Process Multiple Files feature.
