Question

How do I close the "ElementsSmartTag" application? I can't even find it.

I recently bought Adobe Elements 15 and I just tried to open the Organizer. I received a message telling me an update was available, but when I trtied to install it I got a message telling me I needed to first close ElementsSmartTag.

I can't find any app with this name and I have no idea what it is. It doesn't seem to be open on my system. A t least, when I open a Force Quit Applications window, it's not listed and I can't find any application with this name in the usual places. Can anyone tell me what it refers to, where I can find it, and how to close it?

Or barring that, can anyone tell me how to work around it so as to complete the update?

I am running Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.5.

Thanks!

Look in Activity Monitor, then under Disk. Quit it there. You have to do it when the program tells you to because it reopens when you open the Organizer,

If you open Activity Monitor (it's in Applications/Utilities) you can type in letters to filter the list to ones that match. So, type in elem for example and you should quickly find ElementsSmartTag. You can double-click it and then select Quit. If it doesn't want to quit you can choose Force Quit instead. Either way the dialog you're seeing should go away.

This was a great idea, Colin. I did just check Activity Monitor, but I got no hits at all for "elem." I have only two activities running at all that start with the letter "e," and "elements" isn't one of them. See screen shot below.

Can you think of anything else?

    Thanks!
