Question

How do I dim a photo in PhotoShop Elements 15

The left image, .jpg format, is an example of what I want.  I need to go from original full color/brightness image [like on right] to a dimmed/faded/transparency level so I can put it in background on document, filling the page.  New to PSE.

Open your image in the Editor (Expert mode)

On the menu click:

Layer >> New Fill Layer >> Solid Color >> OK

Choose White from the color picker and click OK

This will hide your image below the white layer

Now go to the layers pallet (Window >> Layers) and adjust the opacity slider down from 100% until you get the effect you want – see image below. Then save.

Hi Terry,

There are many ways to create dimmed image in Photoshop elements. One of the way is:

1. Create a new layer below your image layer and fill it with white color.

2. Now reduce the opacity of your image layer.

You will get a dimmed image on white background.

Thanks,
