how do i install the required CODEC for Photoshop Elements 12?

I am unable to add audio file to my slideshow in Elements 12. The error message: required CODEC not installed. I have downloaded and extracted Adobe Media Encoder CS6.0.3 for Windows 32-bit. that doesn't help. what should i do?
