How Do I Make a Color Image Duller and Grayer

I am trying to reproduce in PSE 2023 the change that happens when I print a color image.

The best way I can describe it is that the print appears to have had a transparent wash that makes everything uniformly duller and grayer.

I want to create an image I can post on a printing forum which shows the image I see on my monitor side by side with the image the printer creates.

I do not see how to do it, but I think I want to adjust the opacity to more than 100%.

Is this possible?

Certainly enhancement with a hue/sauration adjustment layer as mentioned by @jeffarola is in order.

However, there are many variables contributing to the disparity that you see on your monitor vs. a print.

1. Have you calibrated your monitor? Most default monitors settings out of the box are too bright. For critical work you may wish to look into a calibration tool.

2. There is a difference among printers as to the fidelity of the output. I have an Epson printer, and have owned a Lexmark printer, and the prints were not the same, using branded ink in each printer.

3. Do you use ink marketed by the manufacturere of the printer, or, do you used generic ink from other suppliers?

4. Do you use paper that is produced to be compatible with the branded ink?
