Question

how do I restart with a new clean data base?

Having moved folders around I seem to have screwed up my database. I am getting missing photos.

Am I supposed to be able to import all my photos into organizer?

I am trying to load my 2017  folder with 5638 but it all stops at photo 3811 and I just get "Not Responding" and the only way out is to exit the program.

I can't see any method of clearing out the data base and starting again.

Doing a re install does not seem to work. I am using elements 14, THE SOFTWARE SEEMS A BIT FLAKY TO ME

You would imagine performing a Bulk import would overwrite the old database and allow you to start again? I have Tried that it still stalls.

I am running windows 7 with a I7 processor and 8gig of ram.

That's a misconception of how catalogs do work.

(By the way a catalog has several sqlite databases...)

A bulk import (a desastrous choice in my opinion) is not selective. It scans all your computer and not only the relevant folders.

Once you have created a catalog, any kind of import relates to it, you can re-import from the same folders if you want. The import process 'imports', that is registers, indexes only new files in the catalog.

If a catalog is corrupted and can't be 'repaired', obviously reimporting won't cure the problem. You have to start with a new catalog.

Doing a re install does not seem to work.

Of course, the catalogs (the catalog folders) are stored independently from the softare. Uninstalling does nothing to existing catalogs.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delayed response.

You can create new catalog from File> Manage Catalogs.

Click on New here to create a new catalog. You would need to re-import the images here. It would be like creating a new database from scratch.

    Thanks.
