How do I save an incomplete collage

I am using Elements 2018 and Windows 10 on a PC.

I am working on a photo collage.  I have most of my pictures in the photo bin and I have a few roughly positioned on my canvas.  I want to shut down Elements and return to my work tomorrow.  How do I save the current environment exactly???

Previous attempts have asked me if I wanted to save each photo that has been modified but when I open the collage at a later time I find that my photo bin is empty.  Thanks in advance, Al

I am creating it directly in the 'Expert' view as you described.

Your layered work can be saved in a file in .psd or .tiff format.

The contents of your photo bin may be already saved as an album. If not, you can use the small icon on the top right part of the photo bin title to 'save' the contents of the photobin in an album.

There is another way: to save your work in a 'Photoshop Project Format (.pse)' file in the save dialog.

When you open your project file, click on 'advanced' on the top left, and display the layers panel by clicking on the icon on the right in the bottom of the icon bar.

Are you creating a collage from the 'create' option in the editor or organizer? Or are you creating it directly in the 'Expert' view by having a set of pictures open in the photobin and a temporary layered file?
