How can I undock (or re-size) the layout window for PS Elements 6, such that it doesn't take up the entire

window on my MB Air?

Thanks

Hal

Thanks, but fill workspace background IS unchecked, but that doesn't do it.  What I want to do is be able to grab the bottom right corner of the ENTIRE PS Elements screen, and drag it up and to the left, for example, such that the whole layout only occupies a part of the laptop screen.  I used to be able to do that with old versions; hopefully this version hasn't eliminated that feature.

As far as i know, it's not possible to do what you want on the mac side with pse 6 or any earlier version on mac os x.

You can resize the pse application starting with pse 8 on the mac side.

On a windows system all versions of pse are resizable as you want, but not on the mac side and as far as i can tell, no  mac versions of photoshop elements on the mac side can resize the whole application before photoshop elements 8.

On the mac side, photoshop elements versions before pse 8 don't have an application frame, which is how most mac applications were originally, so there is nothing to resize.

    Thanks.

I don't recall which version used to let you untether (or whatever the correct term is), but there was a time when you could take the entire window on, for example, the bottom right, and drag up and to the left, and make it whatever size you wanted.

Or at least I think that's what I recall... :-

    Anyway, thanks,

If you mean resize the whole pse 6 application?

    I don't think you can.

You can however go to Photoshop Elements>Preferences>General and uncheck Fill Workspace Background and then you can see your desktop or whatever other application provided the document window is resized.
