Question

How not to loose tags between Adobe Elements 11 and latest version if my PC died

Hi, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated:

12+ year old PC died containing Adobe Elements 11 app and photos.

Transferred dead PC's HD into new PC extra bay (now e: drive).

I cannot open Elements on new PC (I cannot find exe file or method).

I want to buy the latest Elements version, BUT I want to keep all of the TAGS that I had with my previous Elements 11 version.

Do I need to find a way to install my previous Elements 11 on my new PC, before updating to latest Elements version? I am thinking that the TAGS amd other info would be lost if I just install latest Elements verson and import photos from HD placed in new PC.

How do I install older Elements 11 onto my new PC? It was such a long time ago.

Thank you for any suggestions.

I assume that you don't have any backup of your catalog that can be restored to your new computer.  If you do have a full backup, you can simply install Elements 2025 on the new computer and restore the backup using that program.  The catalog will be converted to Elements 2025 and all of your tags should be intact.

If you don't have a backup, I need to ask a few questions.

1.  About how many photos/videos were in your Elements 11 catalog?

2.  Is the hard drive OK and can you open the photo files that are now on your E drive?

3. What is the folder structure of your photos on the E drive?

4. Had you converted your old computer to Windows 11?

5.  Did you routinely save the metadata to your files in the Organizer?

6.  Did you use face recognition in Elements 11?
