How To Change Eye Direction In Photoshop Elements 2024

Please can someone advise me if there are any tools available in PSE 2024 to automatically change eye direction. I have found a good tutorial online that explains how to do it manually but not automatically using Elements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5xcyaaH9ZQ&t=29s This involves copying the eyes to a new layer, moving them and tidying up with the clone tool and layer masks etc.

Using PSE 2024, under Enhance/adjust facial features/ its possible to change head tilt and gaze. Under guided edits/Special Edits/Perfect portrait/ its possible to, "open closed eyes" etc. But I can't see anywhere to change eye direction. Is it possible to do this automatically in PSE 2024? or can it only be done manually in advcanced edit mode?

Kind regards

Chris

"But I can't see anywhere to change eye direction. Is it possible to do this automatically in PSE 2024?" No.

You can't change eye direction in pse, any version.

I suppossed you do it manually by copying and pasting some eyes that look simliar.

Photoshop can chage eye direction, but it's not perfect, it's pretty good, just not perfect.

The Perfect Portrait Guided Edit also has some eye manipulation tools.  I thought of taking the eye width tool to the eyes on different layers and then masking them so that the eyes are combined and pointing in the same direction.  But that probably manipulates the surrounding eye area to work well.  So, yes, copying the eyes to a new layer and moving them will probably work best.

Thank you Greg for the explanation. That seems to be the method to use with PS Elements.

Hi Chris.  I don't recall exactly what I did, but I think I used the Open Closed Eyes feature to replace the eyes from a sample photo in which the direction was changed.  I say that because clearly I used a color photo of the eyes to replace the B&W.

Here's a crude example of what Elements can do without much effort  😉:

Greg, thank you for posting the example.

I guess for the head tilting you used , Enhance/adjust facial features/face tilt.

What did you do to adjust the direction of the eyes? Did you copy the pupils/eyes to a new layer and manually move them in advanced mode? I can't see any other option in PSE 2024.

Kind regards

Thank you for your reply Glenn. I will continue to use the "manual" method.  It can be done by copying the original eyes to a new layer, moving them and tidying up.

Kind regards

Chris

A subscription to photoshop, I only pay $10.85 a month is well worth it, you also get lots of free stuff with it:  You get access to all the templates in Adobe express.
