How to keep preferences saved?? Photoshop Elements 2024 Organizer

I keep going into organizer and editing my preferences but they ultimately revert back to default. I wound up just deleting everything in my catalog because media analysis wouldn't stay turned off. Now apparently it just keeps automatically adding things back to my catalog. I turn off the auto sync and uncheck the boxes to automatically save photos, videos, etc. I choose ok, close the organizer and relaunch and all of those settings are checked back. Now my catalog has everything I worked on in editor back in there. I purchased a new laptop that's supposed to be here tomorrow and I believe PSE is going to run better on it so maybe this organizer situation won't matter but I'm still curious if it's an error on my part or just another glitch in the program? I had to roll back my version after the ipp error with the April update so maybe it has something to do with that? It's a head scratcher because I have tried everything short of uninstalling it and nothing makes my changes stick. I really wish organizer was a separate program because I wouldn't even use it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Adobe bridge is free, and more powerful than organizer:

Amber, it is unusual for preferences not to stick, but it can happen if there is a forced exit from the program.  If you have the automatic backups on, then I'm guessing that may be a problem if the backup failes to complete.  The other performance issues on your old computer can also contribute to this situation. Let's wait for your new computer to be set up.  I doubt whether you will have the same kind of issues with it.  (And I don't think the problems you have had are user errors.  😁)

I'm so excited I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! 🤣 It should be here tomorrow so I just decided not to even fool with PSE anymore on my current one. I think I'm just going to go ahead and deactivate it so I'm ready to install on my new one. I probably bit off more than I should have with my lack of knowledge with photo editing software but I'm stubborn so I'm determined to learn how to use it. I purchased a PSE coach guide thing and it was truly worth the $39. I didn't even know half of this stuff was possible. I used CS2 for really basic graphic editing for furniture transfers. PSE offers a LOT more so I'm really looking forward to being able to use it 😁😁

You might think about forgetting Organizer and trying XnViewMP. It is free and works very quickly. Just a thought that I think may be helpful.

Thank you Sandy! So far I have not been very impressed with the Organizer but I have been attempting to use it on an old out of date laptop so perhaps my opinion will change with my new one but I am absolutely saving your recommendation. Thank you!
