Question

How to move a photo out of media in the Organizer?

Over a 5 day period, I took 1,400 photos of 3 events.  I downloaded the photos from my camera into 3 folders. The folders for two of the events contained all of the photos I had taken. The last folder only has 50% of the photos I took. I did not see any of the missing photos in the first two folders.

I tried downloading all the photos a second time with no success. However, I did found all of the missing photos in the media screen of the Organizer. I have no idea how to move the photos our of media into the third folder. Please help me.

Thanks,

James

    James,

The organizer does not work like the Explorer or Finder by organizing (storing) photos in different places (subfolders or events).

Yes, It can manage where to store your photo files when you import (download) them or if you want to move, rename or delete them afterwards.

But the organization is managed in a catalog.

Each photo file has its own description in the catalog. The location of the file on your drive, its path. All the main exif data provided by your camera, such as date_take,, speed, camera etc. All the information you add like keywords captions. And all ways you can group files together. For instance you can have a keyword for an event in which you select files from different cameras, on different subfolders etc. The organizer provides a totally independent organization, a virtual one which is not based on the location of the file. Grouping files together can be done by keywords, by albums (kinds of playlists stored in the catalog), stacks or version sets.

My advice: download the pdf help file to get more information and then come back here with any question you may have.

    Hi Michel,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Thanks for all of your helpful comments. Per your suggestion, I did open Adobe Elements Organizer Help. Upon looking at the help guide, I realized that I should have included in my comments that I had already looked through the guide and did not find what I was looking for.

I elected to try to locate a video on You Tube regarding how to move a photo in the Photoshop Elements Organizer. I first viewed "Move Folders in Photoshop Organizer to Avoid Disconnected Files" posted by Digital Scrapbooking HQ. I then watched another video by the same group entitled "Reconnect Missing Photos in Photoshop Elements Organizer." Upon watching the second video, I realized that although the file I was looking for was in Organizer under one of the other two files I had created, it was not on my hard drive. I must had inadvertently deleted the file when I was editing the photos in the other folder. In light of this, I decided to delete the file in Organizer and then download the file again from my camera.  It worked and I now have all the missing photos in the same third file.

    Take Care,

    James
