How to prevent the PSE 15 Editor from changing the date on an image to the current date? [was: David Gray]

This is my first posting. Please excuse me if this problem has been discussed already.

I am using PSE 15 and I've scanned a large number of slides dating from 1967. With some of these images I know the year they were taken but not the actual date. Therefore I date the images with just the year.

The problem is if I open any of these images into the editor the date on the image is changed to the current date. I've had to go through the files changing the date back to the year  the images were taken.

Is there any way to prevent PSE from changing the date?
