Question

How to save most used fonts

I cannot find a way to save my most used fonts . When I start up the app and use it those ones I use appear at the top of a very long list of fonts (most of which on a mac cannot be deleted). That is great as long as the app is open- but when I close the session all that memory goes with it and reverts to zero and I have to again scroll through hundreds of fonts to get to the few I regularly use. It seems that this should be a preference I can set but I cannot find it, nor can I find any mention anywhere of the subject online.  I surely cannot be the only person with this problem. What am I missing ?

There is 1 app “Fontshelf” a plugin  for photoshop, not PSE which might work.

“Fontbase” may also help you manage fonts.

As for a “recently used fonts” listing, it’s not happening in any program.

Photoshop (PSE’s “big brother”) can do almost exactly what you want.

I would think you could even make a spreadsheet to keep track of the font’s used.

You are not missing anything.  I

’m not aware of any program anywhere that lets you save fonts in such a manner as what you describe.

A few is often described as three or four:   just write them down on a piece of paper, problem solved.

When I download fonts, I often will download say 10 at a time.  I make screenshots of the downloaded files- I simply won’t remember them even two days from now.

Selecting fonts in pse:   click on the text box then type in the first few letters of the font to go to font’s with that name.

Creative Cloud offers adobe fonts- but that requires a subscription to something like photoshop. Still does not do what you want, but it does let you mark a font as a favorite.

There are lot of font management programs available- but I find them to be mostly useless: You cannot make custom fonts that appear like brushes do.

BOTTOM LINE: Your choices are limited.

Thanks for the reply. To be clear as I am working on several projects it puts the fonts I am using at the top of a very long list. I would think that memory could be sustained.  To get them there I had to scroll through hundreds of fonts to choose the ones I want. Using an imac i dont have the choice about the fonts that are automatically added to that long list. If I could I would delete 90% of them.I suppose I will have to do what you say and do it the old fashioned way with a hand written note to myself !
