Find by file name is confusing. I type in a speifice file name and ext and it gives me 15 to 20 file that have every varyation of the file name I gave it. I only want the one.

Is there a way to search they way windows explorer does. That is is returns only the matching file.

Thanks,

That should not be happening.  There are some Options that are available in a dropdown menu at the top right of the grid.   The toggles are confusing but here they are:

I didn't think these are sticky but perhaps something has gone sideways in your installation. Which of the 4 options are you showing after creating a search by filename?

Can you give us an example of a search that is yielding too many results.

How are you accessing the filename search?  If you use the Find>By Details (Metadata) search dialog, there are various operators you can use for Filenames:

I just go to FIND and then find by file name. A box pops up to put the file name in. There is no switches or options here. When for example I put in pict0345 I get all manner of variations from pict0220 to pict600. The result does include the target of pict0345 but in addition I get about 20 other pictures that now have to be searched through manually.

I can't explain it but I is working as it should. I tried it the next day and had same multi-file problem but after a couple attemps it corrected and has been working since.

Use Adobe Bridge to search for files.

Adobe Bridge is a free digital asset management app.
