Question

HP says it's a PSE issue when my printer won't work with some designs...

Hello,

Since using a new HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 (after my old OfficeJet finally couldn't be fixed) I've had all sorts of little problems. The latest is that for one or two of the layouts for a calendar booklet I print for my business, the printer takes ages to print and then only prints one copy when the job is for 8 or 12 or whatever. Occasionally a message fleetingly appears on the printer's little screen saying something about "job memory" but I don't get the message on my computer and its not in the error log.

I've been hours with HP and even let them remotely check things out on my computer...but they keep saying its Photoshop. I updated from PSE 10 to 13 over the weekend...same problem.

The few pages that do this are not any larger in file size than the others.

Any ideas?

    1. Windows or Mac?
    2. Any recent updates to operating system?
    3. Do you have the latest driver for the printer? The driver that came with the new printer may be out of date!!
    4. Can you print normally via the organizer?
    5. Can you print the same file(s) normally via an other application?
    6. Do you have access to another printer to test if this works on your setup?
    7. Is your printer plugged in to your computer via USB, or, are you printing on a network?

    Mac

Just updated to High Sierra hoping it would help...it didn't.

Yes. And the HP support checked all of that remotely before I posted here.

I had to delete the Organizer (which I never use!) to solve another issue with this printer last week.

I made my PS layout into a PDF and printed it from another application and it worked, but I don't remember if I tried multiples...

Yes, it prints multiples on my other printer. (Shouldn't that show it isn't PS?)

Maybe the functionary for HP was inexperienced.

The organizer alone can't be deleted as far as I know. How did you manage to do this?

Keep using the other printer and return the new HP for a replacement.
