I can't print. When ever i try to print something photoshop just crashes and disappears.

Restore default preferences:

Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements Editor displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file could be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.

Note: Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.

Do one of the following:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.

Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.

A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements Editor. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.

I just don’t know how and when I went to the Printers folder it was empty.

I can’t reset the preferences. It’s not working. This computer came with the software, i don’t think I’m able to uninstall and reinstall Elements. This is too complicated for me, I just need it to print already. There is something wrong with the softrware. This has never happened to me before.

I restarted the print spooler and that didn’t work. I’m on Windows 11 HOme build 25H2, OS build 26200.9445 and Photoshop Elements 2026 26.3

Okay, let's go through all the troubleshooting again:

Reset Photoshop Elements preferences.
Run Elements as an Administrator.
Hold spacebar plus File > Print.
Restart the Print Spooler service.
Set a default printer in Windows.

Uninstall and reinstall Elements.

Fix folder permissions on Adobe folders (as Administrator).

Right-click each of these folders → Properties > Security > Edit and ensure Full Control is allowed for you and Administrators:

C:\Program Files\Adobe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
C:\ProgramData\Adobe (hidden folder — enable "Show hidden files" in File Explorer to see it)

Shut all apps down and reboot your computer.

It’s only Photoshop, I can print from all other applications and do so every day. This Photoshop issue isolated. It’s a relatively new computer and I never used Elements before this. I reinstalled phtoshop and that did nothing.

Since reinstalling Photoshop did not resolve it, I would try resetting Photoshop’s preferences and then test the print function again. First, can you tell me that this printing error is occurring only on photoshop or all the other software, installed on your system?

If printing works normally from other applications but Photoshop crashes when you try to print, the issue is more likely to be related to Photoshop, its preferences, or its interaction with the printer driver.

However, if printing fails or causes problems in multiple applications, then I would look at the Windows print system, printer driver, or printer configuration as possible causes. In that case, checking for Windows updates or reinstalling windows or updating the printer driver would be a good starting point.

I got an error message that i didn’t have permission to open the PRINTERS folder, but it opened and was empty.I am on build 25H2, OS build 26200.9445

I apologize, I made a mistake, it’s actually Photoshop Elements 2026 V 26.3. I tried both and neither worked. The applications just disappears off my screen. I’m on Windows 10.

Okay, thanks for that extra info. Some other steps to try:

Run Elements as Administrator (right-click the shortcut → Run as administrator).

Clear the Print Spooler (stop the service, delete files in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, restart the service).

Make sure Windows 10 is on build 22H2 or later and that your GPU drivers are current.
